MADE IN ENGLAND

This is my kingdom My castle  My home

I do’t wear a crown Nor sit on a throne

I am such a lady But have no title you see

I am high and mighty When I want to be

But do quit enjoy A nice cup of tea

My flags hang proudly Outside of my door

All of them commoners Stare on with awe

I don’t talk posh That’s really not me

have my four princes His lordship as well Still I don’t need a butler To ring on a bell

I’m quite eccentric I’m hip and so bold

Suppose that’st he best way Before I’m too old.

I don’t need gold coins Or fancy old rings

Music and laughter Are my favourite things

I’m proud and outspoken Say what I think

I love a good singsong And even a drink

I’m proud to be ENGLISH Don’t care what you think!

Melanie Palliser, a devoted family woman living in England, expresses her deep love and pride for her country through the patriotic poem “This Is England.” For her, England is not just a place on a map—it is home, filled with memories, values, and the spirit of generations.

As a mother and wife, Melanie views England through the lens of family life. The poem reflects her belief in the strength found in community and the comfort of familiar traditions. She honours the everyday resilience of English families who nurture their children and uphold shared hopes for a peaceful future.

To Melanie, patriotism is woven into the simple moments: sharing stories of the past, celebrating local customs, and teaching younger generations the meaning of belonging. Her poem captures both the pride and responsibility she feels to protect and cherish the country she calls home.

In the end, Melanie’s personal view as a family woman reminds us that patriotism is not only about grand gestures but also about the love and care we give to our loved ones and the place where we belong.
